Come along as I explore Eat Drink Vegan’s Beer and Food Festival 2017!
It was my first time attending and I ran into so many other vegan YouTubers and bloggers! This is a super quick video I put together to share a glimpse into what it’s like at the Rosebowl event, even though there was SO much I left out and so many other people that I didn’t include…I’ve got to work on balancing enjoying the event and filming at the same time…haha! Let me know if you were there, maybe I got you in here without knowing it (that happened a few times)!!
Special thanks to the Cafe Gratitude crew and especially Ryland Engelhart!

Day 1: Apple Picking in Oak Glen, CA

Day 1 of #27DaysOfThanks: Apples

It’s apple season…

and I had the pleasure of spending Halloween Day apple picking in the small orchard town of Oak Glen, CA. I picked organic Granny Smith, Roma Beauty and Red Gold apples! It gives you such a different perspective when you pick the food you eat yourself…it gave me a sense of gratitude and appreciation and made me feel that we take our food for granted at times. I highly recommend this experience to everyone and it would be great for kids too.

We picked apples at Riley at Los Rios Rancho…

We also stopped by a small organic fruit stand called Mom’s Orchard and tasted a bunch of jams, mustards and sauces. My favorites were the Spicy Peanutbutter and the Apple Jam!

Here are some reason to be thankful for apples:

1. They are high in Vitamin C and A which will boost your immunity this time of year.
2. They have fiber and eating one everyday for a snack will keep you feeling satisfied and regular.
3. They can reduce cholesterol and prevent disease by aiding in detoxification.

A great way to get an apple in is to add it to your juice or smoothie!

Here is the Spicy Peanut Butter and Apple Jam Sandwich I made with my pickings from today:

This has been Day 1 of #27DaysofThanks! Stay tuned for more everyday! Thank YOU for stopping by!!

Celebration Day Getaway in Ventura (and Mary’s Secret Garden)

We hear about it all the time…

…the importance of getting out of the grind, your daily routine, the stress of city life and getting into nature, or even just getting out of town. It’s like something lifts off your body and you feel a release and peace. One spot to do just that is just outside of Los Angeles, it’s a quaint beach town without a lot of tourists and truly feels like a mini vacation as soon as you step foot inside of Ventura! My fiancé and I were celebrating our one year anniversary and decided this would be the perfect place to spend the day…

We started off the day doing some earthing at the beach.

Earthing: The Process of absorbing earths free flowing elections from it’s surface throughout the soles of ones feet.

There was NO ONE on the beach!! It was awesome, and felt amazing physically, mentally and spiritually. I truly feel like nature is the perfect place to release and surrender everything to God, to give up all your plans and let off your load. In that place, you often feel a realignment with your purpose, encouragement on your journey and an answer to prayers or questions that may have been lingering. It is healing in so many ways and part of living a healthy happy life! There is also a healthy dose of vitamin D happening here…

Next we took a lovely walk along the Ventura Pier. The weather was perfect.
